The result was an oil that would quickly degrade at around 1,500 hours – so quickly that customers often wouldn’t catch it in time and would suffer damage to their equipment. This kind of damage has not been quickly forgotten.
“Some customers are still leery, though, and will change the oil sooner at 4,000 or 6,000 hours even though it’s still in good condition,” said Dan Myrick, Summit’s Cheif Technology Officer. “It has been such a huge improvement in performance, it’s been hard to get some customers to adjust to the new normal.”
